On top of this, the cast of characters apart from Duran Duran seems to include "brown folks," no regard for consistency - we have a mash up of kids who look Indian, black africans, folks who look Arab, etc. A classic mark of orientalist thinking is that kind of screwed up geography, an indicator of the kind of political-historical ignorance that is only possible when one assumes as true all the stereotypes and silly stories of "the orient" we find in the west (you tell me where Disney's Aladdin is set!). And to top it all off, the crescendo of the video is Nick Rhodes getting bizay with an attractive black woman, which could perhaaaps be seen as a reference to Kurtz's African mistress - except it's blocked and acted out in a way to suggest the two people are animals, which ends up seeming like less of a criticism of the colonial mindset or an embrace of the animalism of human sexuality, and more of a same-old-same-old depiction of a good white human male being seduced by the inhuman black female temptress and her animalistic desires.
